Texas Children’s is one of the largest, most comprehensive specialty pediatric healthcare organizations in the nation, with an average of more than 4 million patient encounters each year. Our workforce of about 15,000 physicians, nurses and other clinical and non-clinical employees help care for 10,000 plus children and women every year.
Many Texas Children’s employees are on the front lines, providing direct care to patients and families, or leading those who do. Other employees do their work behind the scenes. While they might be recognized by their leaders and colleagues, these employees and the important roles they play are not widely known throughout the organization.
To honor these individuals, the Corporate Communications team recently asked leaders to nominate an Unsung Hero in the organization to be highlighted in a feature story on Connect. We received several nominations and are highlighting 10 of them here today. Their stories also will be highlighted over the next several days on our employee Instagram page @oneamazingteam.
To thank this year’s winners for their compassion and dedication to the Texas Children’s mission, they will head to NRG Stadium on September 29 to watch the Houston Texans Kid’s Day Game against the Carolina Panthers. The game – presented by Texas Children’s Hospital – celebrates the National Football League’s Play 60 campaign, which encourages children to be active 60 minutes a day to help decrease childhood obesity. The tickets to the game are one of the benefits of Texas Children’s Hospital being the official children’s hospital of the Houston Texans football team. The goal of Texas Children’s and the Texans partnership is to inspire children to lead healthier, more active lives.
