Gabriel (Sean) Flores

Ambulatory Service Representative
Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands Radiology
2019 Unsung Hero

Sean Flores is the lead Ambulatory Service Representative for the Radiology Department at Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands. In his role, Sean heads the department’s front desk, serving as the vital first impression to patients and families coming in for a radiology procedure. He also is the voice on the other end of the line when a sometimes anxious family member calls needing to get their loved one scheduled for an appointment, or when they have a question about an upcoming exam or procedure.

“Although his job is unglamorous and unpublicized, Sean serves with dedication, quality, and most evidently, with heart,” said Assistant Director of Radiology in The Woodlands Traci Foster. “His team work, positive attitude and gentle spirit has brought our team together, and has certainly made a difference in the lives of many of our patients and their families.”

Since joining Texas Children’s almost 20 years ago, Sean has been singled out many times in Press Ganey surveys. A recent comment from the mother of 2-year-old twins expressed gratitude for Sean’s kindness and patience with her children.

“As a mother, I know my twins are rambunctious to say the least, but to not have someone make me feel that way is priceless,” the mother said.

Sean also is supportive and kind to his co-workers, offering to fill in for them when he can. Recently, he switched shifts with a colleague to help her out while she attends college classes. Regularly, he helps out over the weekend at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women, Kirby Specialty Center and Texas Children’s Hospital at the Medical Center.

Sean has a vast knowledge of EPIC and radiology scheduling procedures, making him instrumental in the successful training of other Ambulatory Service Representatives. His calm demeanor and interpersonal skills have gained him trust and respect from everyone in Radiology and beyond.

“Sean quietly exemplifies the mission of Texas Children’s through his daily commitment of quality service and interactions with co-workers, patients and families,” Foster said. “He is an amazing Unsung Hero.”
