Inaugural Recipient: Dr. Wallis Molchen Earns TCHO Employee Volunteer of the Year Award

Small acts of service often have the greatest impact when they are done with consistency and care.

Dr. Wallis Molchen, a clinical attending in the Transitional ICU and Complex Care Clinic, has demonstrated that impact through her volunteering with the Texas Children’s Houston Open (TCHO), earning the inaugural TCHO Texas Children’s Employee Volunteer of the Year Award.

The award recognizes a team member who demonstrates sustained service, leadership and impact through volunteering during tournament preparation and event week. Recipients are selected for consistent commitment and dependable support across multiple areas of the event.

Over three years, Dr. Molchen has contributed nearly 100 volunteer hours to TCHO while continuing her clinical work caring for children with complex medical needs and their families. Her service has supported tournament preparation and event week operations, working alongside fellow volunteers to help bring the event to life.

She shared that team members should volunteer for TCHO and other initiatives led by our organization because it is a meaningful way to serve beyond daily responsibilities and stay connected to our community.

“Being the inaugural recipient of the Texas Children’s Employee Volunteer of the Year Award is both an incredible honor and a humbling experience,” Dr. Molchen said. “This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects a commitment to serving others beyond my role at Texas Children’s. Volunteering has always been an extension of the values that drew me to healthcare — compassion, service and making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families. I am grateful to Texas Children’s for recognizing the importance of community service and for fostering a culture that encourages giving back.”
