West Tower Emergency Center Construction Begins June 11

Starting Thursday, June 11, the next phase of West Tower Emergency Center construction at our Medical Center Campus will expand capacity, improve access and enhance the experience for patients, families and care teams.

Emergency Center operations and patient care services will remain open throughout construction. Construction is expected to continue through November 2027.

What This Expansion Brings

  • More than 40% increase in bed capacity

  • New technology and expanded care capabilities

  • Improved support for patients, families and teams

What’s Changing

  • West Tower and Abercrombie breezeway areas no longer available for waiting, gathering or routine travel

  • Pedestrian and valet flow around the building modified

  • Reduced visibility in portions of the West Tower lobby and breezeway 

How to Prepare

  • Use alternate entrances when possible

  • Allow extra travel time around West Tower

  • Follow posted signage and updated routing guidance

  • Direct patients and families who valet to cross the Bellows breezeway to the main entrance
