Your name, title and department.
Carolina Fuentes, Nurse Instructor, Cancer and Hematology Center (9WT).
Tell us how you found out you won a Super Star Award.
My team and I received a message from our leader saying to meet in the break room because someone would be receiving an award. I was surprised to learn the Super Star Award was for me!
What does it mean to be recognized for the hard work you do? How has the organization helped you achieve your personal and professional goals?
I am truly honored and humbled to be recognized by my leaders for my work. I never seek to be recognized or applauded because I genuinely care about our patients and our nurses. But I must admit that it feels good to be awarded. The organization has helped me achieve my professional goals by trusting me in the role as a nurse instructor. Through this role, I serve as a resource, mentor and educator to ensure safe, high-quality patient care is provided through real-time teaching and reinforcement of best practices for nurses with two years of experience or less.
What do you think makes someone at Texas Children’s a Super Star?
I believe what makes someone a Super Star is their ability to go above and beyond for our patients and their families, as well as being caring, compassionate and empathetic.
What is your motivation for going above and beyond every day at work?
My motivation for going above and beyond is our patients!
What is the best thing about working at Texas Children’s?
The best thing about working at Texas Children’s is my peers and being part of one of the best healthcare systems in the nation.
