Texas Children’s Nurses Honored with Top Awards and Leadership Roles at PNAMH Gala

Our nurses earned top recognition at the Philippine Nurses Association of Metropolitan Houston (PNAMH) annual gala for their excellence in care and commitment to nursing leadership. The event brought together Filipino nurses across the region to advance professional development, mentorship and community engagement.

Inpatient Staff Nurse Wendy Lei Jagape received the Heart of Nursing Award, which honors Filipino nurses who demonstrate excellence, compassion, resilience and commitment to patient care. “I am honored and grateful to be a Heart of Nursing awardee,” Wendy shared. “It reflects not only my individual journey but also the values, dedication and resilience that many of us bring with us into the profession.”

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Assistant Director Sohrab (Alex) Sardual was inducted as PNAMH president, where he will lead the organization’s mission and support leadership development for Filipino nurses across Houston. He said the moment reflects how Texas Children’s nurses are stepping into leadership roles that extend beyond clinical care. “It is an opportunity to give back, uplift others and represent our community with pride,” Alex shared. “Our impact, and that of Texas Children’s, reaches far beyond our walls to the larger healthcare landscape.”

Four Texas Children’s nurses were also elected to PNAMH board roles, where they will lead mentorship efforts, coordinate professional education and support community outreach across Houston’s Filipino nursing community.

New PNAMH Board Members:
• PICU Nurse Micah Micarandayo
• Neurology Nurse Ruby De Jesus
• PICU Nurse Manager Djoanna Villanueva
• Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner Dr. Darlene Acorda

Join us in congratulating our nurses on these outstanding achievements and their continued impact across our organization and the broader nursing community.
