Advancing Excellence: Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Earns CARF International Reaccreditation

Every day, our Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) team demonstrates the precision, readiness and coordination that define pediatric rehabilitation care. That commitment has once again earned the team reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International (CARF).

CARF sets more than 1,800 standards for quality, safety and performance in health and human services. For our IRU team, meeting those standards is built into daily practice rather than a single event. That practice includes annual quality improvement planning, safety drills on every shift and ongoing coordination across clinical and operational teams to support a safe, high-quality experience for every patient.

With this year’s decision, our IRU team now holds more than 14 years of CARF accreditation. Behind that consistency is a team that incorporates preparation, communication and accountability into daily care.

“The importance of CARF accreditation is that Texas Children’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit continues to strive for excellence in care of children with impairments and sets an example both nationally and internationally,” Medical Director of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Christian Niedzwecki said.

We are proud of our IRU team for this well-deserved achievement and the diligent care they provide for the children and families we serve.
