Barbie has arrived on the 11th floor of the West Tower, bringing Met Gala inspired glamour — fashion’s most celebrated showcase of bold creativity — into our Medical Center Campus halls.
Our 11 West Tower team, including nurses, patient care assistants, unit clerical assistants and child life specialists, partnered with patients and families to design a one-of-a-kind Barbie Met Gala display. Located outside the 11WT playroom, team members can visit the display 24/7 until May 8.
As part of ongoing unit programming, the initiative was created to bring joy to the unit. Team members styled donated dolls in couture looks while patients and families designed paper fashions, turning the space into a shared creative experience.
Assistant Clinical Director of Nursing Nelson Castellon recognized the initiative through a Caught You Caring, sharing, “In a place where days can feel heavy and stressful, this creativity offered a moment of wonder, fun and connection that truly mattered. Unit programming like the Barbie Met Gala creates meaningful ways for patients and team members to engage, feel included and simply pause to breathe. This initiative provides light in moments of high stress and competing priorities, reminding us all of the importance of the little things.”
