Voice of Nursing: Lori Ramirez on Getting Ahead of the New CE Tracking Rule

May 26, 2026

In the latest Voice of Nursing blog post, Lori Ramirez shares how Texas Children’s partnership with Nurse Builders is helping nurses get ahead of the new Texas Board of Nursing (BON) continuing education (CE) tracking requirement.

EXCERPT: Beginning September 1, 2026, the Texas BON will implement a new CE tracking requirement. Under this rule, all nurses must upload proof of their required continuing education into the Texas Nurse Portal before renewing their license. This change results from Senate Bill 912, which enhances oversight and enforcement of CE requirements for licensed healthcare practitioners in Texas. No new account, subscription or fee is required to comply.

Nurse Builders supports this transition in several important ways. Since the platform is entirely electronic, all completed courses and hours are stored within each nurse’s account, making it easier to transfer CE documentation to the Texas Nurse Portal. Nurses can access more than 350 hours of free CE courses, including required trainings such as Human Trafficking Prevention and Nursing Jurisprudence and Ethics that fulfill Texas BON requirements.
