Join us for our Menopause Matters Virtual Discussion Group Series beginning November 2

October 5, 2022

The years surrounding menopause are an important time in a woman’s life. For many women, the hormonal shifts of menopause may cause difficult symptoms, including hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, and more. These years may also include challenges unrelated to menopause, like struggling to balance caring for children, aging parents and oneself; making important career moves; dealing with the “empty nest” experience; and much more.

But talking about a woman’s experience of menopause and midlife has not been the norm. It’s common for women to feel alone and lack important information and as they go through the changes of perimenopause (the years leading up to menopause), menopause, and post menopause. They may suffer in silence, not realizing that there are ways to deal with menopausal symptoms, and women to provide help and companionship during the journey.

The Menopause Center at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women is working to change that. Beginning on Wednesday, November 2, we will launch Menopause Matters. This five session series will bring women together to hear from trusted experts and talk with each other about their questions and experiences. We’ll cover:

  • The experience of menopause – the best and worst parts of this stage of life
  • Nutrition and body image – steps to manage body changes at midlife
  • Healthy body – why menopause is an important time to pay attention to your physical health
  • Healthy mind – mental health during the menopause transition
  • Sexual wellness – how to be safe, happy and satisfied

Each session will include a brief presentation from a subject matter expert and lots of time for women to talk with each other.

If you are in the menopausal years, please join us. You’ll be glad you did!
