2017 Caught You Caring recipient
Communicating and interacting with families, patients, peers and leaders is Kevin Young’s strongest quality. Kevin’s ability to greet and to have calming interaction with families as they arrive to Texas Children’s eases the anxiety families have when arriving to the hospital. Kevin’s attention to detail has been demonstrated by knowing moms and dads by first name and knowing vehicles so that he ensures they have a place to park right away. Many times, while rounding in the EC, Kevin is often stopped and thanked by those who are leaving the hospital. Kevin’s interaction with patients is priceless. He engages with the kids and tries to make their experience fun even if it is just the short wheelchair ride to Radiology.
Kevin demonstrates the highest integrity and ethical behavior when engaging with his co-workers. Kevin has always taken the newest of the EC staff under his wing and shown them the how’s and why we do things a certain way. Kevin is the ultimate team player and encourages his peers to be the best they can be. Leslie Cardona says, “I love working with Mr. Kev. He makes sure we have what we need.” Kevin has also served as a mentor to his peers who have not performed, as they should. Kevin has addressed timeliness and appearance with his peers to motivate them to follow Texas Children’s standards.
