The Palliative Care Team invites you to take part in the 8th Annual Candle Lighting Ceremony in collaboration with staff and departments across the hospital to honor and remember the precious lives of children who are no longer with us. The event will be on Sunday, December 14 at 4 pm at the University of Houston — Student Center South.
Volunteer Opportunities
We’re looking for caring and compassionate volunteers to help with this special event. This year, volunteers can choose their shift time. Roles will be assigned based on availability and areas with the most need.
Volunteer roles and shift times include:

Set-up Crew (12 – 2 pm)

Ceremony Crew (2 – 5:30 pm)

Teardown Crew (5:30 – 7 pm)

A volunteer orientation meeting will take place Thursday, November 13 from Noon – 1 pm via Microsoft Teams to learn about the ceremony timeline and logistics, volunteer roles and shifts, parking and team leads and details for the day. Attendance is encouraged, but the meeting will be recorded for those who can’t attend.
About the Ceremony
The event will include memorable activities, a collective candle lighting, heartfelt speakers and enjoyable music. Free parking and refreshments will be provided for volunteers.
