Texas Children’s Physician Organization Launches Well-Being Council

Caring for children and families begins with supporting the people who serve them. At Texas Children’s, clinician well-being is essential, not only to our culture, but to the quality, safety and experience of care for every patient we serve.

That is why we are launching the Texas Children’s Physician Organization (TCPO) Well-Being Council, a system-wide, data-driven effort focused on strengthening support structures, reducing burnout and fostering a sustainable culture of Joy in Medicine.

Why This Matters
We recognize the demands of modern clinical practice, whether emotional, physical or operational, have never been greater. We also acknowledge that, as an organization, we can and must do more to ensure our clinicians feel supported, valued and equipped to thrive. Establishing this council represents a renewed commitment to listening closely, responding thoughtfully and building meaningful, lasting improvements that strengthen well-being across our workforce.

What the Council Will Do
The TCPO Well-Being Council will bring together clinicians and leaders from across the system to:

  • Assess and strengthen our support structures for clinician well-being

  • Identify barriers that impact professional fulfillment

  • Recommend actionable improvements to workflows, culture, communication and resources

  • Partner with departments and operational teams to drive sustainable change

This work will be grounded in our HEART values, Humility, Excellence, Accountability, Respect and Trust, ensuring our efforts reflect who we are and what we stand for as an institution.
