Texas Children’s Participates in Saudi Arabia Conference to Globalize AI in Health Care

For the first time, the government of Saudi Arabia invited Texas Children’s to participate in panels at its four-day annual Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh. Information Services Vice President Ashok Kurian joined Assistant Director Iman Shebaro and Senior International Patient Coordinator Youssef Hrar from the International and Destination Medicine team to share his knowledge about how AI is transforming patient care at Texas Children’s to the 130,000 participants in attendance at the conference.

Ashok was part of the conference’s Leader Summit panel, “The Imaging Bottleneck: Addressing Radiologist Shortages with AI-Powered Solutions.” During his panel, he provided comprehensive insight into how Texas Children’s effectively uses AI responsibly in daily clinical and administrative work to improve accuracy and create efficiencies.

In addition to attending the Global Health Exhibition, the team visited King Faisal Specialist Hospital and held meetings with government entities and insurance representatives. The team’s presence served in furthering our mission of providing care to those who need it most, offering our specialized services, and continuing to strengthen the longstanding relationships that have been built over many years in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

“Standing alongside my fellow experts in health care technology while in Saudia Arabia reminded me that the true promise of AI lies not only in what it can do but in who it can help,” Ashok said. “Through shared innovations and worldwide partnerships, Texas Children’s is creating a future where health equity for every child is a reality.”

We are proud of our team members who place innovation and global health equity at the heart of everything they do to help us bridge the gap between possibility and access to care for every child.
