Texas Children’s Names Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology

Texas Children’s has announced the appointment of Manuel “Manny” de Jesus Silva Carmona, MD, as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital, effective April 6.

Dr. Silva, a longstanding member of the Texas Children’s and Baylor College of Medicine community, completed his pediatrics residency and served as chief resident at Texas Children’s. After additional fellowship training in pediatric critical care and pediatric pulmonology, he returned to join the faculty in 2016 and has since played a key role in advancing care for children with complex and rare lung diseases, including through his leadership of the Rare Lung Disease Program.

In this role, Dr. Silva will provide clinical and academic leadership for the division, partnering with teams across Texas Children’s to further strengthen our pulmonology programs, advance research and innovation, and develop the next generation of pediatric specialists.

This appointment builds on the continued strength and national recognition of Texas Children’s pulmonology programs, ranked #1 in Texas by U.S. News & World Report, and reflects our continued commitment to leading the way in highly specialized pediatric care.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Silva on this well-deserved appointment.
