Pick up your Texas Children’s Provided RideMETRO Fare Card

Metro has launched its new RideMETRO fare system to make commuting in Houston faster, easier and more rewarding. The new RideMETRO fare card replaces the METRO Q card and works across all Metro bus and rail services.

Important: METRO Q cards expire on April 4, 2026. Team members who use METRO must obtain a new RideMETRO Fare Card before this date to avoid disruption to their commute.

What’s New
The RideMETRO fare card includes several rider-friendly upgrades:

  • Replaces the METRO Q card for local buses, park & ride commuter buses and METRO rail

  • Provides free transfers for up to three hours

  • Reloaded funds applied instantly
     

How to Receive RideMETRO Fare Card

RideMETRO Fare Rail cards will automatically be assigned to Smithland’s parkers. Team members who park at Meyer Garage 14, Meyer Garage 19 or the Meyer South surface lot can request a card by emailing TotalRewards@texaschildrens.org.

Fare card pick-up

Cards will be available at the following times and locations:

  • March 16 – 20, 2026 | 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

    • HR Service Center – Abercrombie Building A.130

  • After March 20

    • Meyer Building, 3rd floor, Benefits Department
