A quick observation or a thoughtful decision can save a patient’s life.
These actions happen every day at Texas Children’s. Maritza Ruiz, an Environmental Services team member, noticed a patient looking pale and short of breath and alerted the nurse, who quickly assessed the patient and activated the rapid response team. LaToya Etiobhio, an inpatient staff nurse, spotted a mismatch between a patient’s medication orders and the hypertensive emergency checklist, prompting a systemwide update. Their quick actions reflect our team members’ dedication to patient safety.
Engage in Patient Safety Week events March 8–14 to learn more about the small but critical steps team members from all departments are taking to keep patients safe.
