Mayor Turner proclaims Mark A. Wallace Day

May 1, 2023

To celebrate the 70th birthday of President and CEO Mark A. Wallace, clinical and operational leaders gathered for a reception to commemorate the milestone and surprise him with a special proclamation from the City of Houston recognizing April 24 as Mark A. Wallace Day!

Mr. Wallace spent time greeting and thanking team members for being a part of his 33-year journey at Texas Children’s Hospital, and was overwhelmed with gratitude when presented with the proclamation granted by the Office of the Mayor.

“I am incredibly proud to say I have grown up with Texas Children’s,” said Mr. Wallace in his On the Mark blog post. “I can still remember walking the halls, meeting my new team and feeling a sense of pride, excitement and joy – it’s the same feeling I get when I walk the halls today at 70 years old.”

Proclamations of this kind are designed to congratulate, honor and recognize organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the City of Houston.

“Texas Children’s is grateful for our longstanding relationship with Mayor Turner and City of Houston leadership,” said Johnna Carlson, assistant vice president, government relations. “We communicate with them often on various initiatives, so when I reached out to request a special recognition of Mr. Wallace’s birthday, they didn’t hesitate to say yes!”

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Wallace on his birthday proclamation – we look forward to celebrating Mark A. Wallace Day for years to come!
