Jane Burns Makes History with Prestigious Ultrasound Honor

Every heartbeat tells a story, and one ultrasound leader is helping the world listen.

Jane Burns, ultrasound manager in Maternal Fetal Medicine, has been selected as a 2026 Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). The fellowship is one of the highest honors in the field. It is awarded to fewer than 4% of active AIUM members and recognizes individuals whose leadership, service and innovation have advanced ultrasound practice.

Jane is the first ultrasound leader at Texas Children’s to receive this distinction.

She has spent her career advancing ultrasound practice, improving patient care, and supporting education and research. Under Jane’s leadership, the Maternal Fetal Medicine Center has set high standards, and the skill, dedication and passion of its teams demonstrate the impact of her guidance.

“Jane has earned this recognition as she exemplifies the high standards AIUM sets for its fellows,” said Erika Fisher, director of Ambulatory Services and Jane’s manager. “Her passion for ultrasound education, and her dedication to advancing both the science and the professionals who rely on it, clearly demonstrate why she is deserving of the Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine designation.”

Congratulations to Jane on this historic recognition!
