Drs. Keswani and Lee Assume New Roles in the Department of Surgery

As Texas Children’s grows and evolves, so does the Department of Surgery. We are excited to announce Dr. Sundeep Keswani has accepted the role of Associate Surgeon-in-Chief, and Dr. Tim Lee has been named Chief of Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Larry Hollier will continue as Surgeon-in-Chief and President of Health Affairs. These changes will be effective October 1, 2025.

Dr. Keswani is well-positioned to serve as Associate Surgeon-in-Chief. He has been the Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Texas Children’s for the past five years and the Surgical Director of Basic Science Research for the past 10 years. He has earned a national and international reputation through his research in tissue regeneration, which has been funded continuously by the NIH for the last 15 years, as well as through his clinical expertise in fetal and neonatal surgery. Throughout his career, he has trained and practiced at many of the nation’s premier, high-volume children’s hospitals, giving him the breadth of experience to contribute meaningfully to the future of surgery at Texas Children’s. He is a past president of the Wound Healing Society, a recipient of the Michael E. DeBakey Excellence in Research Award and currently serves on the Board of Governors Executive Committee for the American College of Surgeons.

In his role as Associate Surgeon-in-Chief, Dr. Keswani will focus on efforts to improve both operating room and outpatient access and efficiency while working with the division chiefs and hospital leaders to continue building multidisciplinary teams and cross-departmental relationships for the betterment of patient care.

Dr. Lee has been Director of Clinical Operations for Pediatric Surgery and the William Pokorny Endowed Professor for the past five years. Over that time, he has succeeded in supporting the growth of clinical activity in Pediatric Surgery and the development of the division’s sub-specialty programs across all campuses. He served on the executive council for the Association of Academic Surgery and is active in Fetal Therapy and Diagnosis Committee for the American Pediatric Surgical Association.

Please congratulate and support Drs. Keswani and Lee as they transition to their new roles.
