Dr. Paul Austin Earns American Urological Association’s 2026 Presidential Citation

At Texas Children’s, our providers are trailblazers who exemplify leadership, dedication and innovation to improve the lives of children. Among these remarkable providers is Dr. Paul Austin, whose contributions to pediatric urology have earned him one of the field’s most prestigious honors.

Dr. Austin has been named a 2026 recipient of the Presidential Citation from the American Urological Association (AUA). Selected personally by the sitting AUA president, this award recognizes providers who have significantly advanced the field of urology through leadership, research and education. It is one of the AUA’s highest distinctions, honoring those whose work leaves a lasting impact on the specialty and patient care.

As chief of Urology and the Clayton Endowed Chair in Urology at Texas Children’s, Dr. Austin has led with vision and purpose.

He has published more than 145 peer-reviewed articles and authored or edited 30 books and book chapters. His research focuses on childhood voiding dysfunction, which has shaped how children are treated for urinary conditions around the world.

Dr. Austin has guided the field through leadership roles in major professional societies. He served as president of the Societies for Pediatric Urology, secretary-treasurer of the Society of Pediatric Urology, president of the American Association of Pediatric Urologists and secretary general of the International Children’s Continence Society.

His influence on the specialty also includes helping set and uphold the highest standards in urologic education and research. He has been an examiner for the American Board of Urology since 2021 and earned the 2016 AUA Urology Care Foundation John W. Duckett Jr., MD Pediatric Urology Research Excellence Award.

His relentless commitment to mentoring colleagues, advancing pediatric urology and transforming care for children with complex urinary conditions is what makes him well-deserving of AUA’s Presidential Citation. He will formally receive the award in May at the AUA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Austin on this exceptional achievement in pediatric urology!
