Award recipients exemplify our core values of Humility, Excellence, Accountability, Respect and Trust.
Staff of the Quarter – Kristine Phansana
Pharmacist Kristine Phansana was recognized for her decisive action, leadership and unwavering commitment to patient safety during a critical emergency situation. A true embodiment of our HEART values, Kristine consistently responds with urgency, professionalism and a strong sense of accountability.
As part of a code response in the Pavilion for Women first-floor lobby for a pregnant patient actively seizing, Kristine quickly ensured her team’s presence and assessed the need for additional support. When it became evident that the Labor & Delivery response team and emergency equipment were delayed, she took initiative to locate a crash cart in the obstetrics triage area, navigating restricted access points and locked doors. Using her knowledge of the facility, she identified an alternate route and successfully retrieved the equipment, ensuring lifesaving care could be delivered without delay.
Physician of the Quarter – Dr. Jennifer Bump
Obstetrics-gynecologist Dr. Jennifer Bump was honored for her exceptional leadership, compassion and advocacy. She is both a collaborative team member and an inspiring leader, going above and beyond for patients and staff alike.
As a key partner in developing the Adoption-Sensitive Care Program at Texas Children’s, Dr. Bump has demonstrated clinical excellence and a deep understanding of the emotional, ethical and medical needs of patients navigating adoption. Drawing from her personal experience as a birthmother, she brings empathy and perspective to her care, while actively supporting staff education, advocating for patients and accepting referrals during vulnerable moments. Her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care continues to make a meaningful impact across the Pavilion for Women.
