Staff of the Quarter – Brittney Trayham
Education Coordinator Brittney Trayham was recognized for her unwavering commitment to elevating clinical care, staff education and patient experience across the Pavilion for Women. A true embodiment of our HEART values, Brittney consistently leads with purpose and innovation.
As a member of the Fall Prevention Committee, she redesigned the fall risk education program for PFW staff, integrating it into February Training Tracks to promote timely learning and awareness. She also circulated Quarterly Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Peripheral Intravenous Infiltration and Extravasation (PVIE) data through emails and visual infographics, promoted best practices with quarterly lactation education and developed post-operative patient education materials. Brittney created instruction and validation pathways to empower staff in initiating magnesium sulfate boluses, reducing response times and improving outcomes.
Currently, Brittney is developing telemetry monitoring education for stable postpartum patients, further strengthening safe, evidence-based care. Her positive influence on employee engagement and patient experience has earned her multiple Top Leader Rounding Awards and established her as a trusted mentor, educator and advocate.
Physician of the Quarter – Dr. Karen Horst
Dr. Karen Horst was honored for her consistent delivery of high-quality care and her commitment to staying current with the latest medical research, technology and procedures. She is both a collaborative team member and an inspiring leader, going above and beyond for patients and staff alike.
Karen recently led a fundraiser for a staff member whose mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. She listens attentively to patients’ concerns and staff questions, fostering trust and supportive relationships. Karen’s dedication is reflected in numerous positive patient experience surveys, with some patients noting, “she literally saved my life.” Her encouragement, guidance and commitment to our HEART values make her an invaluable asset to the Pavilion for Women.
