At Texas Children’s, we’re relentless in our pursuit of our mission to create a healthier future for women and children. We have the talent and resources to achieve our goals, but must remain committed to continuous improvement.
To align with Texas Children’s long-term strategic goals, the Healthcare Systems Engineering (HSE) department created a new Lean Six Sigma White Belt training, now available in Voyager. HSE supports the organization in sustaining excellence by engaging in partnerships for continuous improvements, education and innovation.
“We’re excited to roll out training to all employees who are interested in process improvement for their area of the business,” said Ramzey Ibrahim, director of planning and analytics in HSE. “Our goal is to have the majority of our employees complete this training in the next few years to help us improve workflows, customer and staff satisfaction and quality.”
White Belt training is the introductory training to HSE’s process improvement learning pathway. It introduces participants to basic concepts, terms and definitions in process improvement and covers the high level roadmap for getting from problem to solution. The training is in two parts, with the first consisting of a series of videos and the second is a self-paced workshop where participants will be asked to apply the concepts to their own work in order to identify where improvement opportunities might exist. Participants will build a Project Identification Workbook and those who submit a completed workbook will become Certified White Belts.
