It’s $30 million Friday at Texas Children’s! That’s the total amount Texas Children’s will pay out to our eligible Texas Children’s and BCM teammates in a single day – bringing our overall investment to more than $200 million since Tomorrow, Together launched. That means eligible employees who have been here since September 2021 will receive a bonus of 3% of their salary today.
It all started last June when leaders listened to what makes employees feel valued, included and celebrated for their contributions. In response, President and CEO Mark A. Wallace announced the biggest and boldest investment the organization has ever made in its people with an initial 2% pay increase and an additional week of PTO for everyone in our organization. That momentum has continued throughout the last several months, including the announcement of our 1,2,3 Retention Program in 2021. Today marks the third and largest payout in the program, and is also the day when our total investment in our people reaches $200 million!
At a time when health care organizations across the country are facing financial challenges, Texas Children’s continues to prioritize its investment in YOU.

Did somebody say parties and selfies?
The celebrations will also continue with your teams. Be on the lookout for more information from your leaders on how you will celebrate together. Be sure to take lots of fun photos of your celebrations and submit them to HR Communications to be featured on our Texas Children’s People social media and internal channels.

Earlier this month, the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control authorized bivalent COVID-19 booster doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. The COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force recommends all eligible persons receive either of these bivalent boosters. Texas Children’s now has appointments available to administer the booster doses. Details are below.
Pfizer
- Individuals 12 years of age and older
- At least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine
Moderna
- Individuals 18 years of age and older
- At least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine
Bivalent boosters
The bivalent COVID-19 vaccines, or updated boosters, include an mRNA component of the original strain to provide an immune response that is broadly protective against COVID-19 and an mRNA component in common between the omicron variant BA.4 and BA.5 lineages to provide better protection against COVID-19 caused by the omicron variant.
If you are eligible and would like to receive a booster through Texas Children’s, please click here.
Additional Guidance
- Texas Children’s strongly encourages, but does not require a bivalent booster vaccine if you have already received a monovalent vaccine booster.
- For more information on boosters, please refer to this FAQ document on the Texas Children’s website.
