Anesthesiology, Perioperative & Pain Medicine Team Hosts Perioperative Week Conference

The Anesthesiology, Perioperative & Pain Medicine team engaged in learning, collaboration and laughter at the Perioperative Week Conference, which the department hosted.

For the conference, nurses, surgical technologists, patient care technicians, anesthesia technicians and vendor partners shared stories, insights and innovations that make life-saving procedures possible for children at our hospital every day.

The team also participated in poster presentations on research updates, process improvements and new initiatives designed to enhance patient care quality.

In addition to being a learning and bonding opportunity, the conference was a reminder of what’s possible when teamwork, dedication and innovation come together. Team members from every corner of the field, including the preoperative area, post-anesthesia care unit and the operating room, go above and beyond to ensure each child receives the safest and highest-quality care possible.

“The Perioperative Week Conference reinforced why we do what we do — delivering exceptional care to those who need us most,” Anna Castillo-Gutierrez, sterile processing educator lead and the organizer of the event, said.

“The expertise and passion of our team were evident throughout the day, which was a true reflection of why our hospital is first in Texas and how our collaboration drives excellence and sets us apart. Each activity highlighted the strength of our team and allowed us to give back to those who give their all every single day,” she added.

Leading up to the conference, the team enjoyed a host of activities — from donuts and popcorn to pasta lunches and wellness events — in honor of Perioperative Week, which fostered moments of joy and connection among members of the department.
