At Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women’s Ambulatory Services, one name stands out as a pillar of support, knowledge and dedication: Jill Aburto. As the women’s services educator, Jill is more than a teacher—she is an advocate for excellence, growth and patient-centered care, supporting more than 300 team members.

“Being the ambulatory education coordinator for PFW has been such a rewarding experience,” Jill said. “I learn so much from the leaders around me and being part of each clinic’s team allows me to make a difference in many ways.”

From nurses and medical assistants to support staff, Jill plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between evolving clinical practices and everyday patient care. She ensures each team member is equipped with the necessary skills for success.

“Clinical education is about fostering understanding and growth in an area,” said Nurse Manager Kim Hase. “Jill consistently goes above and beyond, offering guidance, collaboration and support that enhances the team’s knowledge and empowers them to deliver competent and compassionate care.”

Her impact extends past training sessions and competency programs. Jill customizes learning opportunities, mentors new hires, and introduces new protocols with a passion that inspires those around her. Her expertise spans a variety of specialties, including OB/GYN, maternal-fetal medicine and reproductive endocrinology.

“Jill understands the needs of the staff,” said Nurse Manager Leslie Goodwin. “Whether it’s regulatory readiness or specific clinical needs, she is always there to help our staff be successful. She seeks out learning needs from the staff and works with leaders and clinical experts to create educational forums and trainings to meet those needs.”

Apart from her day-to-day contributions, Jill is a driving force behind innovation within her department. Over the past year, she developed new educational modules on RH antibody management and supine hypotension, ensuring staff are prepared for critical clinical situations. She also refined education outreach initiatives, implemented blitzes, enhanced rounding practices and newsletters.

“Her commitment to our teams is steadfast,” said Director Erika Fisher. “She invests time in understanding their unique challenges and consistently discovers innovative ways to make education meaningful, engaging, and effective.”

POGC Manager Natasha O’Bryant echoed that sentiment, adding, “Jill is always pleasant, easy to talk to, and always willing to help. She is such a sweet person.”

Thanks to Jill’s relentless dedication, Women’s Ambulatory Services has become a dynamic, high-performing environment where patients and staff benefit. She is the heartbeat of a thriving learning culture, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
