Dr. Ray Somcio tells an inspiring story of how his daughter and her health struggles within the first few days of life are the reason he went into the field of pediatric radiology. The story is a simple but touching message comprised of little more than a few pictures and a few words and has won a contest from the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging (WFPI). The WFPI featured the video in the International Day of Radiology celebrations on November 8 and shared it on their website.

The contest called for radiologists from across the country to submit their videos about pediatric radiology, the theme of this year’s International Day of Radiology. This year, radiologists from across the globe celebrated the 120th anniversary of the discovery of x-rays.
With pediatric imaging in the spotlight this year, Somcio was thrilled to share his story about his inspiration, his baby girl. Somcio’s video received more than 200 likes from the site visitors.
