11117norbertomontes175Norberto Montes, Medical Technologist for Pathology Department, died December 28, 2016 at the age of 68.

Norberto joined Texas Children’s Hospital Pathology as a Medical Technologist in 2005. He was a “founding” medical technologist in the diagnostic laboratory at the Pavilion for Women since 2012. Bert was dependable, hard-working and good-spirited. He has been a good friend to everyone in the department and will always be remembered and will forever remain in their hearts.

Bert is survived by two children, Michael Montes and wife Jessica, and Michelle Luna and husband, Felix; three granddaughters, Danielle, Alexis and Molly; brother, Reynaldo Montes and wife, Susan; and sister, Paulina Laugo; nephews and niece, Michael, Jun-Jay and Pauline Jaye; and the rest of his relatives and friends.

121416shirleycherian175Shirley Cherian, project manager, Radiology, died unexpectedly on November 29, 2016. She was 30 years old.

Shirley joined Texas Children’s Hospital in February 2011 as a CT technologist in the Radiology Department. A colleague who was loved by everyone she interacted with, Shirley earned her MBA going to school during the day and working as a technologist during the night shift at Texas Children’s. In 2013, Shirley was promoted to project manager for Safety, Regulatory & Education. Shirley was brilliant in this role and was considered a rising star in Radiology. Her encouraging smile, her willingness to help, her quick wit, her graciousness and, most important, her passionate dedication to the children and families we serve, are just some of the qualities that made Shirley special to her friends and colleagues.

Shirley is survived by her parents, Mr. Cherian M. Cherian and Mrs. Lizzi Cherian; sisters, Mrs. Sheba George and Mrs. Susan Thomas; brothers-in-law, Mr. Johnsly George and Mr. Ashley Thomas; and nephews, Aiden Thomas and Andrew Thomas. To her many extended family and friends, she will be greatly missed.

11916marshallthomas175Marshall Thomas, patient transporter for Patient Escort-Facilities Operations Division, died October 31 at the age of 58.

Marshall joined Texas Children’s Hospital in 1998 and provided excellent patient care for the next 18 years. He was known for his dependability and hard work – always the one who was more than willing to share his knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual advice with others on the job.

Everyone who has known Marshall will miss his understanding smile, distinctive calm, peaceful demeanor, and remarkable humility.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sharon; daughters, Rasheba Telford and Michelle Thomas; son, Marshall Glenn Thomas Jr.; sisters, Roslyn Donaie, Shelia Thomas and Debbie Ben and four grandchildren.

71316CynthiaGrace175Cynthia Grace, care manager at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus, died unexpectedly along with her husband on July 8, 2016. She was 41 years old.

Cynthia joined Texas Children’s Hospital in 2011. She was well-respected, admired by her peers and consistently provided exceptional care to her patients and families. Everyone who worked alongside Cynthia will miss her smile, quick wit and sparkling personality.

Cynthia is survived by her children, Ariel and Alex; her father, Richard; her mother, Lumduan; and her brother, Brandon. To her many extended family and friends, she will be greatly missed.

Kelvin joined Texas Children’s Hospital in 1981 and provided excellent patient care for the next 35 years. He was known for his dependability and hard work – always the one who was more than willing to share his knowledge, wisdom, and spiritual advice with others on the job. Everyone who has known Kelvin will miss his understanding smile, distinctive calm, peaceful demeanor, and remarkable humility.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debra; daughter, Jessica Allyce Dillard; mother, Johnnie Dillard; brother, Herbert Dillard and his wife Denise; and sister, Allean Jones.
