Lawrence Najera, 2020 Super Star Employee

Your name, title and department. How long have you worked here?
Lawrence Najera, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Specialty Pharmacy Department, four years.

Tell us how you found out you won a super star award.
Our Amazing Specialty Pharmacy team surprised me by transforming our lounging area with cut-outs of my faces and placing them all over and inviting my wife to give me my plaque.

What does it mean to be recognized for the hard work you do? How has the organization helped you achieve your personal and professional goals?
It is a great honor to be appreciated for my skills and dedications. It makes me feel appreciated and noticed. Texas Children’s Hospital gave the opportunities to elevate my career by always challenging my duties and not underestimating my outcome.

What do you think makes someone at Texas Children’s a super star?
My description of a super star is someone who gives a lending hand with a positive attitude.

What is your motivation for going above and beyond every day at work?
My motivation to go above and beyond is a well-rounded team that is dedicated to providing grade A service to our patients… who enjoys working alongside each other and of course lots of caffeine.

What is the best thing about working at Texas Children’s?
The best thing about working at Texas Children’s is working with my team I consider family. Also experiencing this journey with my wife as she is also a Texas Children’s employee.

What does it mean to you that everyone at Texas Children’s is considered a leader? What is your leadership definition?
We all carry great honor as leaders and sometimes the definition of a leader gets lost in translation. I remember that resilience, courage and transparency are some of the few definitions of a leader. I try my best to reflect that onto others.

Anything else you want to share?
I am humbled and honored to receive this award. I honesty should be thanking everybody for this because without them, I wouldn’t have this recognition. Thank you, Texas Children’s, and Thank You Pharmacy Team!
