Thank you, volunteers!

During National Volunteer Week, we honored and celebrated 70 years of volunteer service at Texas Children’s Hospital with festivities taking place across multiple hospital campuses.

Volunteers in the Medical Center gathered in large for the first time in years for a groovy ‘70s themed luncheon and were recognized for hours served.

“I found my sense of purpose here, and it’s just such a great community…that’s why I keep coming to volunteer here,” said attendee Joseph, who has been volunteering at Texas Children’s since high school.

West Campus rolled out the red carpet and hosted a Western themed volunteer appreciation dinner, awarding service pins to 21 individuals. One volunteer received a pin for 2,000 hours of service! Janice Englander, a devoted volunteer who works in the library every Tuesday and Thursday, was named Volunteer of the Year. She is always willing to help with any project, and staff describe her as gracious, empathetic, continuously consistent and a natural listener.

In The Woodlands, volunteers enjoyed a Kentucky Derby themed dinner and Robin Moritz was named Volunteer of the Year. Robin has volunteered at The Woodlands campus since its opening and has served various placements across the hospital, bringing smiles and joyful attention to all who interact with her.

North Austin Campus recognized their all-star volunteers with a sports themed dinner and provided snacks and gifts throughout the week. They also celebrated their first 100-hour volunteer, Judy Yemington!

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our hospital communities, dedicating countless hours to support our patients, their families and our One Amazing Team. Thank you for being a shining example of kindness and compassion!
