Dr. Pederson recognized by American Association of Plastic Surgeons

Congratulations to William C. Pederson, MD, FACS, FAAP (Dr. Chris Pederson) who was named a Distinguished Fellow of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons at their 2024 annual meeting on May 19, in Boston. Dr. Pederson is in rare company. In the 103-year history of the organization, the Association has named only 88 fellows, including Texas Children’s / Baylor’s Dr. Melvin Spira – in 2004.

“This award was totally unexpected. I am humbled that the leaders of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons feel I should be included in a group that includes some of the best and brightest in the field of Plastic Surgery and that represents the leading educators in our field. Dr. Spira was certainly known nationally and internationally as a leader and educator in plastic surgery, and it is a tremendous honor to be included with him in this group.”

The Distinguished Fellowship is given annually, by the AAPS – the oldest and most prestigious plastic surgery society in the United States – to one or more plastic surgeons. The honor recognizes a meaningful career in plastic surgery notable for significant service to the American Association of Plastic Surgeons or to other national or international organizations, and it recognizes leadership in the education of others in the field of plastic surgery.

Dr. Pederson is the Josephine Abercrombie Endowed Professor of Plastic Surgery and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine. He is Professor of Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.
