Congratulations to our Shamrock recipients!

The Quality and Safety Department recognizes individuals or groups who have excelled in providing Patient Safety with the monthly Shamrock Award.

Newborn Center and OB L&D teams, including PFW NICU Nursing Staff, Ancillary Staff, NICU II Nursing Staff, NICU IV Nursing Staff, OB L&D Staff, Float Nursing Staff, Respiratory Therapist, Newborn Center Leadership and Medical Providers, were recognized in January 2024.

These teams made a huge accomplishment in the recent safe delivery and admission of quintuplets, which required extensive preparation and collaboration between multiple roles and departments. Together, they exemplify all that makes Texas Children’s the destination for women and children. It highlights their commitment and passion for providing incredible care to all of our patients.

The Woodlands Perioperative team was recognized in February 2024.

When a patient scheduled for an elective procedure presented with elevated blood pressures, the team investigated thoroughly and an echocardiogram revealed a severe heart condition. The patient was transferred to the Medical Center for further management. From the PCTs and anesthesiology and surgical teams, to the cardiology team that evaluated the patient without hesitation in pre-op holding, nobody was dismissive of the questions that were being asked and everyone’s focus was on how to best help this patient and their family.

15 West Tower, Physician Hospital Medicine Behavioral Health and Leadership Team, including RNs, POAs, APPs and Nursing Leaders, were recognized in March 2024.

When faced with a difficult behavioral health patient that posed multiple safety and environmental challenges, the team worked together efficiently to implement behavioral intervention tactics and support each other. This team was able to develop psychological safety, which helped ensure overall staff and patient safety.
