Women’s Day brings Milk Bank team together for games and celebration

On International Women’s Day, the Lactation and Milk Bank Services department in the Medical Center gathered for their annual Milk Bank Olympics and team celebration.

Staff members engaged in friendly competition that mirrored typical Milk Bank tasks, like racing to fill syringes, pouring a precise amount without a scale to measure, and estimating how much of a bottle is frozen – all things that are more challenging to do quickly than you’d think!

“We filled the room with a Women’s Day playlist and celebrated the honor we have in supporting and empowering women through their breastfeeding journey,” said Kristina Tucker, Assistant Clinical Director. “Everyone on our team has a deep passion for the work we do, a passion that connects us. We love our Pink Family!”

Prizes were awarded in the form of candy medals, and the team cheered on Senior Milk Bank Technician LaShawn Davis as she received a Shamrock Award for her outstanding focus on quality and safety for our tiniest, most vulnerable patients.
