Tammy Gorr Hendrix, CPM; Manager, Real Estate Services, Facilities Planning and Development. I have been at Texas Children’s since May 2013 (seven years).

Tell us how you found out you won a super star award.
David Perryman, my director, told me moments before walking into a celebration with all my colleagues. I was dumbfounded by the honor and humbled by the well wishes from the team.

What does it mean to be recognized for the hard work you do? How has the organization helped you achieve your personal and professional goals?
I am very flattered my co-worker, Ashley Kessler, nominated me. Knowing our efforts are recognized and appreciated is one of the many reasons Texas Children’s is such a special organization. I’m proud to tell my industry peers I support our mission and how Texas Children’s supports me with engaging professional challenges and work-life balance.

What do you think makes someone at Texas Children’s a super star?
A super star contributes their best ~ every day, is open to new challenges, strives to understand other’s needs and crafts solutions to achieve success for all parties.

What is your motivation for going above and beyond every day at work?
I am motivated by my director, David Perryman. He exemplifies super star qualities.

What is the best thing about working at Texas Children’s?
The best thing about working at Texas Children’s is my colleagues. They are knowledgeable, interesting and fun.

What does it mean to you that everyone at Texas Children’s is considered a leader? What is your leadership definition?
By acknowledging everyone is a leader, team members are empowered to utilize critical thinking skills and model the Golden Rule “treat others as you wish to be treated.” My leadership definition is: “Leaders are people others are willing to follow.” People won’t follow someone they don’t trust, and trust is the keystone of a true leader.
