Nominations are now open for our annual Texas Children’s Nursing Excellence Awards, as well as for the Houston Chronicle’s annual Salute to Nurses recognition program.
Nursing Excellence Awards
During Nurses Week 2023 in May, we will recognize and celebrate the award winners. Click here to learn more about the nomination and selection process for awards like Staff Nurse of the Year, Nurse Leader of the Year, and more.
All nomination documentation will be submitted electronically via Connect Forms. The completed nomination will include:
- Nomination Form
- Two Letters of Support – only two letters can be uploaded to Connect Forms (one must be from a TCH nurse colleague, and the second may be from an affiliated clinical, academic or community partner, a patient/family member, or from a nurse leader at TCH)
- Narrative – specific criteria apply to each of the award categories, provide examples using the STAR (situation/task, action, result) method
- Resume or CV – must be uploaded to Connect Forms

Salute to Nurses
During Nurses Week, the Houston Chronicle is saluting Houston’s Top 150 nurses. To recognize their service, stamina and dedication, they are asking for nominations of nurses who went above and beyond for those under their care. Anyone can submit a nomination, from medical professionals to patients and friends. Click here to recognize an outstanding nurse by 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 3.
Three deserving nursing students will also be awarded scholarships to support their continuing nursing education.
