Patients with simple urological surgery needs can now be seen in clinic by pediatric urologists and have surgery on the same day at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus.
The single-visit surgery program for urology combines the pre-operative clinic evaluation and the surgical procedure into one hospital visit. This new approach is ideal for community physicians with pediatric patients needing minor surgical interventions by a pediatric urologist.
The single-visit surgery program provides a convenient option for busy patient families and consists of a clinic appointment in the morning, and, when indicated and necessary, an outpatient surgical procedure that same day.
Patients who qualify for the program are children without a complicated medical history who have the following conditions:
- Circumcisions for patients between ages 6 to 12 months
- Inguinal hernias
