It’s tough growing up female but Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine is making the journey easier, for teens and their caregivers.

With Girls Elevated 2019, another impressive team of experts has been assembled that will arm teen and preteen girls with the knowledge they need to navigate the changes and challenges that lie ahead. Fun, interactive sessions will cover the critical topics girls want and need to know about, from healthy relationships to the real image of beauty to coping with sexual pressures.

Meanwhile, caregivers will hear expert advice to help strengthen their bond with their teen, from setting boundaries to talking to adolescents about difficult subjects.

Topics for the girls include:

  • Puberty and menses
  • Being a good friend
  • Personal safety
  • Assertiveness
  • Mood management
  • Preventative care
  • Healthy relationships

Topics for the adult caregivers will include:

  • What’s “normal”
  • Contraceptions: myths and benefits
  • Difficult conversation
  • Drugs and addiction

Enjoy a safe, encouraging environment for girls to ask questions to a trusted team of experts equipped to answer them. This year a panel of inspiring women from a variety of careers will discuss their journey, motivation and passion for what they love.
