Practice self-care this summer with help from the Employee Assistance Program

Here at Texas Children’s, we are a community devoted to caring for our patients and families. Oftentimes we are so focused on caring for others, that we overlook the importance of caring for ourselves. Taking care of yourself is paramount to living a happy and healthy life. There is no better time than the present to begin taking care of your health and wellness and to make self-care a priority. We challenge you this summer to make self-care a priority in your life both at work and at home.

To support you on your journey to self-care, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) team will be hosting self-care workshops at no cost for all Texas Children’s badge holders during the summer months. The workshops were thoughtfully created in accordance evidence-based research tools and techniques to promote happiness and well-being. Workshop topics include:

  • Mindfulness and Relaxation
  • Learning Optimism through Journaling
  • Self-Compassion for Health & Happiness
  • The Attitude of Gratitude
  • The Happiness Edge
  • Breathing & Well-being with Essential Oils

“Considering the total number of hours we spend weekly at work, it is just as important to our relationships and our well-being to practice self-care here at work,” said Senior EAP Specialist Allison Bell. “The EAP is so excited to offer the Summer Self-Care Series as participants will learn behavioral strategies and self-care practices to boost well-being in their daily lives.”
