Pediatric Tower E construction continues, impacts several areas

Construction activities continue on the Pediatric Tower E vertical expansion project. Several areas will be impacted in and around the construction site next to Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women.

This week, construction crews will install fencing along Main Street to create the perimeter of the construction yard for the 19-floor vertical expansion, which will create several minor inconveniences.

Sidewalk on Main Street will be closed starting this Thursday.

Due to the closure of the sidewalk on the east side of Main Street, employees and visitors who park in the Houston Methodist/TWU garages must use Fannin Street to access Texas Children’s facilities.

Employees and visitors who park in the Main Street parking lot, will need to use the northern crosswalk at Main Street and Southgate Boulevard to access Texas Children’s facilities.

No access to Magne Garden

Access to the Magne Garden area, located off of Main Street adjacent to the shuttle stop, will be closed for the duration of construction. Furniture and donor bricks will be retained and protected for future installation.

Shuttles, personal vehicle drop-offs and pick-ups

Due to congestion created by the construction activities, only shuttles should use the shuttle drop-off and pick-up area at Building E.

Personal vehicle drop-off and pick-up should be rerouted either to the south side of Southgate Boulevard north of the Main Street Lot or Bates Street in front of the Feigin Center.

Employees will be updated regularly on Connect regarding any other minor inconveniences related to the Pediatric Tower E vertical expansion project.

The Facilities Planning and Development Department appreciates your cooperation and patience during this time as our new pediatric tower is being built to accommodate the growing needs of our patients.
