MyDining room service expands healthy food options for patients at Main Campus

Texas Children’s recently launched MyDining, a new room service feature that will expand healthier menu options for patients during their hospital stay at Texas Children’s Medical Center Campus.

MyDining allows patients to order what they want and when they want it between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options are available to order all day long and the food will be freshly prepared and delivered within 45 minutes of the order being placed.

The menu focuses on healthy food options and all food items are linked to a recipe database to ensure nutritional and allergen accuracy. A call-in center accesses the patient’s dietary requirements in EPIC to ensure the patient is ordering within their prescribed diet. Each tray is tracked from the time it leaves the kitchen until the time it is brought back. Food services then runs reports on the trays to make sure the trays are picked up within two hours of drop off.

“Through the MyDining Program, we strive to create a positive, system-wide experience for our patient families,” said Claudia Conkin, Texas Children’s director of Food and Nutrition Services. “Room service is available in all of our new buildings and it was the right program and right time to offer it to our pediatric patients at Main Campus. We know this added service will have a positive impact on patient satisfaction as well as support our mission to improve patient outcomes.”

Partnering with the Patient Experience Team, the launch of the MyDining Program included collaborations from Food and Nutrition Services, Morrison’s, Nursing and Facilities Planning.

This service is gradually being phased in to all inpatient units at the Medical Center Campus.
