Free obstacle course boot camp class offered this month

Have you ever wanted to try an obstacle course race (OCR) such as a Spartan Race or Tough Mudder but don’t know where to start or how to even begin to train for one? We have the class for you!

Texas Children’s Well-Being team is excited to partner with BC Fitness to offer another free OCR boot camp to Texas Children’s employees and their family members and friends (must be over the age of 18). We hosted this same event last spring so if you missed it, now’s your chance to participate! Click here for photos.

As part of our commitment to take care of our Texas Children’s employees, your Well-Being team began partnering with BC Fitness in October 2017 to host weekly boot camps at the Meyer and Health Plan buildings that provide a convenient way for employees to get more active and improve their overall physical and mental health. Just as in the weekly boot camp classes, the OCR boot camp will include exercises that can be modified to fit the abilities of participants of all fitness levels.

What to expect:
OCR workouts incorporate running, carrying, climbing, jumping and crawling. You will be scaling monkey bars, slinging ropes, climbing nets, flipping tires and practicing spear throws to help you prepare for OCR events. All fitness levels are welcome!

Date: Saturday, November 17
Time: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Location: 12922 Cutten Road, Houston, TX 77066
Instructor: James Wyatt, an American Ninja Warrior and Elite Spartan Racer, will be leading the class.

To register for the class, click here. Participants will be required to sign a waiver on site. If you have any questions, please contact the Well-Being team at wellbeing@texaschildrens.org.
