Evelyn Barren serves as co-chair of the PICU Education Committee where she helps to organize, develop and lead education initiatives for all providers in the PICU.
One of her former orientees had this to say about Evelyn, “…from the beginning, she was welcoming and I immediately felt comfortable in my new environment…she took the time to understand my past nursing career, what I already knew, and what I needed to learn in my new role…she would constantly look for learning opportunities for me…when I got off orientation I felt safe and confident in the care that I was providing because of everything that Evelyn taught me.”
Evelyn’s leaders describe her as “…quite popular with families…she is a nurse that has the skills and expertise to care for the sickest of the sick while comforting and educating families at the same time…this is difficult to teach, yet Evelyn does it effortlessly.”
