Advanced practice providers and supporters honored

Two Texas Children’s clinicians were recently honored for their dedication to their professional practice as advanced practice providers. Also recognized was a Texas Children’s physician for his support of those working in the field.

  • Emily Charles, MS, RN, FNP, CPNP-AC, was chosen as the 2018 recipient of the Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year award. In her nomination Charles was noted to be highly regarded for her clinical excellence and collaborative nature. She is also locally and internationally recognized for her expertise and commitment to the care of medically complex children.
  • Caitlin Justus, PA-C, was selected as the recipient of the 2018 Physician Assistant of the Year award. In her nomination, Justus was noted to be an outstanding professional who is consistently involved in scholarly endeavors that enhance and advance the care physician assistants provide at Texas Children’s Hospital. Her nomination applauded her ability to not only teach technical aspects of care, but also the value of communicating well with patients and their families.
  • Dr. David Roth was named the 2018 Advanced Practice Physician Partner of the Year. His nomination labeled him a true champion for the advanced practice providers profession who is dedicated to educating people in the field as well as residents and students. He was also noted to be a strong advocate for physician assistants and advanced practice nurses who continually encourages his team to achieve more in their professional development at Texas Children’s.

These honorees will be celebrated during physician assistant and nurse practitioner weeks in October and November, respectively.
