Nursing education fund established, application deadline is March 1

Are you interested in pursuing a professional nursing degree? If you have been a Texas Children’s employee for at least three years, you may be eligible to apply for the 2017 Roth Family Tuition Assistance Award.

Last year, Texas Children’s Chief of Urology Dr. David Roth and his wife Polly established the Roth Nursing Education Endowed Fund. Roth wrote a poignant blog about their inspiration for establishing this financial gift which was “to touch individuals on a personal level while allowing them to improve their lives and careers.”

This generous education fund will provide tuition assistance for Texas Children’s employees who have worked in the organization for at least three years and are interested in pursuing a professional nursing degree. The award is very unique because applicants must be in specific types of roles to be eligible.

Employees interested in applying for the scholarship can refer to these guidelines for more details regarding eligibility. If you meet the eligibility criteria, click here to submit your application. Winners will be notified and announced in May in conjunction with Nurses Week activities. These scholarships will then be awarded yearly.

“As an organization that values educational advancement and provides tuition assistance, Texas Children’s is very lucky to have leaders who recognize the importance of helping our employees achieve their academic goals,” said Chief Nursing Officer Mary Jo Andre. “While there are so many worthy causes that Dr. Roth and his wife Polly could have opted to support, we are grateful to them for choosing nursing education at Texas Children’s Hospital.”
