Free obstacle course boot camp class offered to employees, family members, friends

Have you ever wanted to try an obstacle course race such as Spartan or Tough Mudder but don’t know where to start or how to even begin to train for one? We have the class for you! Texas Children’s Well-Being team is excited to partner with BC Fitness to offer a free obstacle course race boot camp to Texas Children’s employees and their family members and friends over the age of 18.

As part of our commitment to taking care of Texas Children’s employees, Texas Children’s Well-Being team began partnering with BC Fitness in October 2017 to host weekly boot camps at the Meyer and Health Plan buildings. The classes provide a convenient way for employees to get more active and improve their overall physical and mental health. Just as in the weekly boot camp classes, the obstacle course race boot camp will include exercises that can be modified to fit the abilities of participants of all fitness levels.

What to expect

Obstacle course race workouts incorporate running, carrying, climbing, jumping and crawling. You will be scaling monkey bars, slinging ropes, climbing nets, flipping tires and practicing spear throws to help you prepare for OCR events. All fitness levels are welcome.

Date: Saturday, June 23
Time: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Location: 12922 Cutten Road, Houston, 77066
Instructor: James Wyatt, an American Ninja Warrior and Elite Spartan Racer, will be leading the class.
